In Review: On Location Tours’ ‘Gossip Girl’ Tour

Hello Upper East Siders … err … GRAE New York readers!

This week we will be saying goodbye to summer. You know that means, Gossip Girl returns soon! (September 26th if you want to get specific.) Last month my friend L and I lived the GG life for a day thanks to On Location Tour’s Gossip Girl Tour.

We kicked things off at NYC’s Palace Hotel, a.k.a. Serena’s old place! After walking around the courtyard for a bit we boarded the official On Location Tours bus to begin our GG journey.

Location, Location

The Gossip Girl tour’s a great way to see the city. From the Upper East Side to the Meatpacking District, I was surprised by how much ground we covered during the three hour tour. Even if you’re a jaded New Yorker (like myself at times), the tour will make you appreciate the diversity of the city’s neighborhoods.

Tour Guide Knows All

I couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide. Rachel was fun, courteous, and witty. Plus she knew her GG trivia! Along the way she told us anecdotes about the GG cast and pointed out other places like 1040 5th Ave, Jackie O’s old residence. If you go on the tour and Rachel’s your guide, tell her hello for me. You’re in for a treat!

Shop and Go

During the tour you’ll be able to get off the bus at certain points if time permits. The stops during my tour were the Museum of the City of New York which doubles as the front of Constance Billard, Dylan’s Candy Bar, and Henri Bendel. We would have stopped at the famed Met steps, but it was the last weekend of Alexander McQueen’s exhibit and the line stretched for blocks. It was major!

Finding inspiration in everything from music and style to art and culture, GRAE New York is a digital magazine of her lifestyle and influences. When she’s not writing or being a girl about town, Shari spends her time (unsuccessfully) convincing native New Yorkers that her Westchester hometown is not “upstate." It’s an ongoing battle.
