Kanye Rises Again in ‘Runaway’

Can somebody please tell me what we did before Kanye West? Other than him and Lady Gaga, no one else is going hard with the visuals right now.

I just finished watching ‘Ye’s new film Runaway, and I’m completely in awe. It truly lives up to the hype. Recently Kanye told MTV’s Sway that Runaway is his “College Dropout of visuals.” It has everything you could want in a film — a relatable storyline, a bangin’ soundtrack, powerful dancers, brilliant cinematography, and Selita Ebanks.

By now you’ve probably heard the basic plot of the film. Griffin (‘Ye) meets into a fallen phoenix (Selita) and tries to get her to conform to the human way of life. Others around him are put off by the whole thing. In the end she teaches him an important lesson which I won’t give away. You’ll just have to watch and see for yourself.

I have to focus on Selita for a moment. I can’t picture anyone else playing the phoenix but her. She’s the perfect mix of grace, beauty, and talent. She has some really great poignant moments in this. Most of her acting is nonverbal and she pulled it off like a veteran. If she wants to transition from model to actor in the near future, I don’t think anyone will object.

Runaway is ambitious, breathtaking, and inspiring. It proves to the world that Kanye is an artist in every sense of the word. If you haven’t seen it yet, watch Runaway below. When you’re done, please leave a comment below. I want to hear if you think it’s as amazing as I do.
